Nominated for the second straight month, Laredo Heat SC forward Nadav Danter was voted onto the National Premier Soccer League Team of the Month for June which was announced Friday. Heat defender Gabriel Claudio was also recognized Friday being named to the Football Manager Team of the Week.

Datner recorded four of his team-leading seven goals in June along with three assists. His effort helped the Heat (6-1-2, 20 points) finish 5-0-1 in the month to stay in the hunt for the No. 1 seed in the Lone Star Conference.

The month opened with a significant victory as Laredo handed the league-leading Denton Diablos FC (7-1-1, 22 points) its only loss of the season winning 3-2 on June 3 at the TAMIU Soccer Complex. Datner had a brace in the match scoring off a pair of corner kicks from captain Erwin Regules.

Next up was a June 17 road matchup with the Midland-Odessa Sockers FC, and Datner assisted on the lone goal in a 1-1 draw. He added a goal two days later as the Heat rolled 3-1 on the road against the Fort Worth Vaqueros FC (0-8-1, 1 point).

When the Heat returned home to face the Brownsville FC Explorers, Datner recorded a goal and an assist in a 4-0 victory on June 23. He added an assist three days later in a 4-2 victory at Brownsville, and he helped Laredo blank Katy 1895 FC (3-4-2, 11 points) in a 1-0 victory June 30 to close out the month.

Datner was one of three forwards honored out of 11 nominees.

Claudio became the second member of the Heat to earn the Football Manager Team of the Week honor as fellow defender Liam Morrison was also recognized in May.

Claudio was instrumental on both ends of Laredo’s 1-0 win over Katy last week. He scored the lone goal in the 36th minute via a give-and-go with Regules. He gathered a through ball from Regules off his chest on the right edge of the box, and as a defender crashed hard he stopped abruptly. The right-footed defender cut to the left and shot with his left foot into the far left of the net.

It was the third goal of the season for Claudio and the first to come off a kick. His previous two came off headers, and he also had a pair of headers on net against Katy that were saved. Claudio also had several defensive headers to break up Katy’s attack as Laredo kept its opponent out of the final third for the majority of the match.

Claudio, Datner and the Heat close out the regular season Friday evening with an 8 p.m. home match against the Coyotes FC (4-5-0, 12 points). A win would guarantee Laredo at least the No. 2 seed and the right to host its playoff opener. A win combined with a loss or draw by Denton on Saturday at Midland-Odessa would land the Heat the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage throughout the Lone Star Conference playoffs.
