The Laredo Heat Soccer Club announces that after 3 incredible seasons as head coach, Coach John Powell will be transitioning into a consulting role within the club.

During his tenure as head coach, Coach Powell led the team to remarkable success, including 3 playoff appearances, 2 conference championship games, and one conference title. His leadership and dedication have left an indelible mark on the team and the Laredo Heat community.

“JP will forever be a beloved member of the Heat Family. His unwavering dedication and affection for our organization have been truly remarkable. In return, we hold him in the highest regard for his outstanding accomplishments, and we are deeply grateful for the invaluable contributions he has made,” said club president Shashi Vaswani.

Reflecting on his time as head coach, Coach Powell shared:

“The Laredo Heat is a special club for so many reasons. I’ll always remember the times as the club’s Head Coach with both pride and gratitude. I was blessed to have had three amazing teams who trusted my vision, an ownership group who supported us, and a community who rallied behind us so frequently. The coaches I got the pleasure to work with in Laredo were top class and I continue those friendships today. I am excited to begin my new role with the club and look forward to pursuing excellence alongside some of the best people. Vamos Laredo.”

The Laredo Heat Soccer Club is excited to continue working with Coach Powell in his new role, where his expertise and passion for the game will remain an asset to the organization.
