Heat Earn Three Points on The Road Versus a Tough Lonestar SC Side

Saturday, May 24, 2025 (Laredo, TX): The Laredo SC rallied with two late goals Saturday, including one just before the final whistle in Round Rock, to stay undefeated beating Lonestar SC 2-1 in the first road match of the season.

With the victory, the Heat stayed perfect in their return to USL League Two improving to 2-0-0, six points. They pulled into a three-way tie atop the Lone Star Division along with Houston FC and Corpus Christi FC.

It was an uphill battle Saturday with some adversity to overcome as Laredo faced a deficit of its own creation. Closing in on halftime in a scoreless match, in the 39th minute the Heat saw an errant pass intended for the goalkeeper go in for an own goal and a 1-0 deficit.

Lonestar camped on that lead for much of the second half, but the Heat’s pressure paid off in the 80th minute as Ivan Zamora forced a turnover in the offensive zone. Five minutes after subbing into the match, Elie Bokota gathered the loose ball near the top right of the box and quickly shot to the far left of the net to level the score.

Despite already salvaging a point on the road, Laredo stayed aggressive late. Just before the final whistle, the Heat had a corner from the right side. The cross was headed out to the left, setting up a shot on goal from the edge of the box. The keeper made the save but couldn’t secure the ball. It found its way to Kai Louvierre on the right edge of the box, and he quickly scored to deliver the full three points.

Bokota and Louvierre both scored for the first time this season. In a 4-1 victory over the Hill Country Lobos to open the season, Louvierre helped set up one first-half goal by Volkan Celikkol and assisted on the other.

Laredo faces a quick turnaround staying on the road for a 7:30 p.m. rematch with the Lobos on Wednesday, May 28th at Bob Shelton Stadium in Buda, TX. Then, the Heat return home to PEG Energy Stadium on Saturday, May 31st to host Corpus Christi FC at 7:45 p.m. in a match that could have implications atop the division.
