Game Recap: Heat Win First Game of Two in Houston Versus Houston FC

Laredo Moves to 5-0-0, 15 points in Lone Star Division of the USL's League Two

Friday, June 6, 2025 (Laredo, TX): The Laredo Heat SC strengthened its position atop the USL League 2’s Lone Star Division and stayed perfect with its first shutout of the season winning 2-0 Thursday at Houston FC.

It is turning into a heated battle atop the table between squads yet to play this season. The Heat (5-0-0, 15 points) are the only team that has not dropped points this season, but the AHFC Royals (4-0-1, 13 points) lurk close behind after winning 1-0 over AC Houston Sur on Wednesday. The next three in the standings are Corpus Christi FC (2-1-1, 7 points), Lonestar (2-2-0, 6 points) and Houston FC (2-2-1, 7 points).

Laredo has also built a sizable three-goal advantage in goal differential over AHFC at plus-11. The Royals have allowed only three goals through five matches compared to four for the Heat, but Laredo has scored 15 goals compared to 11 for AHFC.

Thursday broke the Heat’s streak of allowing only one goal in each of the first four games, but it broke it for the better. Laredo and keeper Marc Bonnaire posted their first clean sheet and lowered their goals against average to 0.8.

The Heat generated all their offense in rapid succession with a two-minute brace from Kai Louviere. The winger from Hondo opened the scoring in the 35th minute, and less than two minutes later he added to that tally for a 2-0 lead.

On the first goal, Louviere took a centering pass in the box, cut around a defender and shot into the top right corner. Just 1:42 later, Louviere raced up the right side, battled with a defender on the way into the box and scored again for a 2-0 lead.

Louviere is now tied with Ismael Mane for the team lead with three goals this season. Laredo also has two goals each from Elie Bokota and Volkan Celikkol and one each from Gael Gallegos, Adam Knutson, Vincent Montoya, Martin Piedeleu and Henox Hatzel Roque Pinson.

The Heat will reach the midpoint of the regular season as they remain in Houston to continue the road trip Saturday against AC Houston Sur (0-3-1, 1 point) at 7 p.m. at Indian Stadium.

After the road trip, Laredo gets two home matches at PEG Energy Stadium. It hosts a rematch with Houston FC at 8 p.m. Saturday, June 14 and welcomes Lonestar at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18.
