Tuesday, February 3, 2026 (Laredo, TX): Laredo Heat SC Owner and President Shashi Vaswani has become part of the new ownership group of Scottish League One side, Kelty Hearts Football Club.

“Located in the village of Kelty, just 22 miles (about a 30–40-minute drive) from Edinburgh, Scotland's vibrant capital and a major hub, this position offers a strategic blend of community intimacy and access to broader resources and networks” Vaswani said.

Added Vaswani, “Retaining meaningful local ownership ensures the club remains grounded in its heritage, and I look forward to contributing fresh ideas, ambition, and long-term support to build on the outstanding foundation already in place”.

"I am truly honored and excited to join the board of directors at Kelty Hearts Football Club as part of the new ownership structure announced last week. This partnership, led by an experienced American consortium, represents a meaningful opportunity to support a proud, community-rooted club that has achieved remarkable progress—from its junior origins in 1975 to competing in Scottish League One, with back-to-back Lowland League titles and promotion to the SPFL”

Vaswani continued, “Kelty Hearts mirrors the values that have driven my work at the Laredo Heat Soccer Club since 2004: building sustainable programs, prioritizing youth development, and creating lasting impact without losing the heart of the local community. Just as we founded Laredo Heat to provide opportunities where none existed—offering tuition-free competitive soccer to underserved youth and constructing our privately funded PEG Energy Stadium—I see tremendous potential here to strengthen the first team, enhance infrastructure, grow the academy, and deepen community engagement while preserving what makes Kelty special: its passionate fanbase, prudent management, and deep ties to the people of Fife”.

“This is about more than investment—it's about doing good, being good, and inspiring the next generation through the beautiful game. Thank you to the outgoing board for their stewardship and to the supporters who make clubs like Kelty thrive. I'm proud to contribute to this exciting new chapter across the Atlantic”, concluded Shashi Vaswani, Board Member, Kelty Hearts Football Club Founder & President, Laredo Heat Soccer Club
