Laredo Heat SC Set to Join United Premier Soccer League (UPSL)
Gateway City Club Will Participate with Local Players in National Fall and Spring League
Laredo, TX (Friday, August 18, 2023) – The Laredo Heat Soccer Club has announced that it has joined the United Premier Soccer League (UPSL) with a team that will consist of local players that will play in the UPSL’s Texas Central Premier Division.
The UPSL Central Premier Division, also known as the Cricket Wireless Texas Central Premier Division consists of nine teams, including the Laredo Heat. The other eight teams in the division are:
- Austin FC (MLS) Academy
- San Antonio FC (USL Championship) Academy
- Alamo City SC (San Antonio)
- Capital City SC (Austin)
- Corinthians FC of San Antonio
- Corpus Christi Shakas
- San Antonio City SC
- Texas FC (Leander)
The Laredo Heat plan on continuing their efforts of getting local talent playing competitively at a higher level in order to assess and develop players from the area and add them to the senior National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) team.
“The idea is to have local players playing as many competitive games as possible between now and the NPSL summer season so they can be ready for our senior team tryouts, showcasing their talent in games is a very good way to see them making decision under game pressure that will allow them and us to see if they are ready to move up”, mentioned Coach Arciga.
Arciga concluded, “With our new facility, the PEG Energy Stadium, many new opportunities will be provided to our young local soccer talent for them to take advantage of in order to make their dreams of college soccer or even professional level soccer a reality”.
