Laredo, TX (Monday, May 14, 2018) – The Laredo Heat Soccer Club has announced their 2018 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) Inaugural Season will be dedicated to former Heat Youth Coach and player, Jose Eduardo “Lalo” Salinas, who tragically lost his life earlier this year.

To honor his memory and contribution to the organization, the Heat will unveil their 2018 home and away jerseys with “Lalo” placed above the number of all the players' jerseys as well as a very special dedication to their former coach, player and friend during a halftime presentation of the Heat’s regular season home opener on Friday, May 18, 2018 versus the visiting Houston Regals; kick-off will be at 8:00 P.M. at the Texas A&M International University Soccer Complex.

“Lalo” played his youth soccer with the Heat under Coach Israel Collazo, who also coached him when he played with the Heat Super 20 Team. “Lalo” played college soccer at St. Mary’s University immediately after graduating from high school and then he returned to Texas A&M International University.

In addition, Coach “Lalo” was also involved with the Heat organization up until his untimely passing as a youth coach for the Heat Under 18 Girls, where he coached his younger sister and Heat Under 15 Boys teams plus he helped the organization with the training session for the younger age groups.

“When we heard the news initially, we were shocked to learn of Lalo’s passing. He was so young, it was hard to believe that he would no longer be with us on the sideline during games or assisting us during practice”, said Heat Assistant Coach, Vicente Ruiz (who also coaches the Heat Under 15 Boys and Heat Under 18 Girls).

“He was not only my assistant coach with the youth teams, but he was my friend as well having played alongside him and having been his coach with the Heat Super 20’s just a few years ago”.

Ruiz concluded, “What the Heat organization is doing for Lalo and his Family, dedicating the 2018 NPSL Season in his honor, is just very classy, I know the Family well and I know they are very appreciative of the gesture and knowing the kind of players that will be representing the Red and Black this season, I know they will play hard for Lalo though many of them might not have ever met him”.

“While we miss our Son and Brother every day, this dedication in his honor really makes us happy to know that Lalo impacted many, on and off the field, while he was here with us”, mentioned Lalo, Sr. (Father).

Laredo, TX (lunes, 14 de mayo de 2018) - El Laredo Heat Soccer Club anunció que su Temporada Inaugural en la liga National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) estará dedicada al ex entrenador juvenil y jugador del Heat, José Eduardo "Lalo" Salinas, quien trágicamente perdió su vida a principios de este año.

Para honrar su memoria y contribución a la organización, el Heat revelará sus camisetas de local y de visitante 2018 con "Lalo" por encima del número de todos los jugadores con una dedicación muy especial a su ex entrenador, jugador y amigo durante una presentación de medio tiempo del partido inaugural de la temporada regular del Heat el viernes 18 de mayo de 2018 frente al Houston Regals, la patada inicial será a las 8:00 PM en el Complejo de fútbol de la Universidad Internacional de Texas A & M.

"Lalo" jugó su fútbol juvenil con el Heat bajo el entrenador Israel Collazo, quien también lo entrenó cuando jugó con el equipo Super 20 del Heat. "Lalo" jugó fútbol universitario en St. Mary's University inmediatamente después de graduarse de la escuela secundaria y luego regresó a Texas A & M International University.

Además, el entrenador "Lalo" también estuvo involucrado con la organización Heat hasta su prematura ausencia como entrenador juvenil del Heat Under 18 Girls, donde entrenó a su hermana menor y equipos de Heat Under 15 Boys además de que ayudó a la organización con los entrenamientos para los grupos de menor edad.

"Cuando escuchamos las noticias inicialmente, nos quedamos impactados al enterarnos de la muerte de Lalo, era muy joven, era difícil creer que ya no estaría con nosotros en la banca durante los juegos o que nos ayudaría en la práctica", dijo el Entrenador Asistente del Heat Vicente Ruiz (que también entrena el Heat bajo 15 Boys y le Heat Under 18 Girls).

"No solo fue mi entrenador asistente con los equipos juveniles, sino que también fue mi amigo, ya que jugó junto a él y fue su entrenador con los Heat Super 20 hace solo unos años".

Ruiz concluyó: "Lo que la organización Heat está haciendo por Lalo y su familia, dedicando la Temporada NPSL 2018 en su honor, es muy elegante, conozco bien a la Familia y sé que están muy agradecidos por el gesto y conocen el tipo de jugadores que representarán a los Rojos y a los Negros esta temporada, sé que jugarán duro para Lalo, aunque muchos de ellos podrían no haberlo conocido".

"Mientras extrañamos a nuestro Hijo y Hermano todos los días, esta dedicación en su honor realmente nos hace felices de saber que Lalo impactó a muchos, dentro y fuera del campo, mientras estuvo aquí con nosotros", mencionó Padre Lalo.
